The captive portal cannot be used when one or more interfaces are bridged.

  • hi

    version on pfsense 1.0.1

have version 1.0.1 of the pfsense and this happening error: The captive portal cannot be used when one or more interfaces are bridged.

    why

  • It's a limitation. Captive portal won't work on a bridge.

  • @lluner:

    why

Because nobody has volunteered their time to make it work correctly.

    Patches accepted.

  • Hi,

i configured a bridge between LAN and OP1 and will run the captive portal a not bridged interface (OPT2). It seems that this is also not possible … am i right? ... or shold it work and i make only a mistake?

The situation is, that the cp blocks the traffic ... but ... if i open the browser there is no authentification page (i tried local user manager) which asks me for name and password...?!

Is it generally impossible to use the cp in a environment with a bridged interface, where it doesn't matter if the cp is run on the bridged interface or not?

    bye

  • That should work. Make sure the clients at that interface use the pfsense interface IP as dns.

  • Great - thank's for the hint! My problem was, that I had a DC acting as a DNS and forwarding all unanswered queries to the POPs DNS (and not to pfsense) …
