Esxi+pfsense+ip+failover+from+ovh+wan
-
hello,
I have esxi 4 and i have create a pfsense vm.
the ip of esxi is 94.X.X.228 and the gateway is 94.X.X.254
I have a ip failover from ovh 178.X.X.207 and the gateway is 94.X.X.254
I have add a route as 94.X.X.254/32 178.X.X.207
I have dns 213.186.33.99
but when I try to ping gateway I have time to live exceeded…
when I try to ping www.google.be I have dns resolution failure...Have you a idea?

What physical NIC's have you presented to the VM's?
-
e1000
I have one nic connected to internet and the other connected for the lan
-
You have to show us pictures of the config for the VM (Nic and Virtual switch) and the config of LAN, NIC and rules on the PFSense.
-
the nic for wan is connected to the vswitch0 (94.X.X.228, gateway 94.X.X.25)
the nic for lan is connected to the vswitch1 ( not connected ) -
And now you have an idea of why you cannot connect to the PFsense <;)
@nmy:
the nic for wan is connected to the vswitch0 (94.X.X.228, gateway 94.X.X.25)
the nic for lan is connected to the vswitch1 ( not connected ) -
the interface wan is connected to the vswitch0 …..
no I don't see while...
-
You dont use LAN at all???Since its not connected??

I'm having the same problem. So far it looks like pfsense cant have a default gateway out side its wan subnet. if you look in Diagnostics, Routes? Let me know if you have a default gateway. I don't have one listed.
my OVH RIPE IP Failover setup (doesn't work)
188.165.0.144/28WAN
IP 188.165.0.145
Subnet 255.255.255.240
Gateway 94.24.165.164LAN
IP 192.168.0.1
Sub 255.255.255.0If i change the WAN gateway to 188.165.0.159 it works but this is a NO NO.. OVH will ban your Block. But in the route tables now i have a default gateway.
And the funny thing is Windows boxes dont have a problem with the WAN configs above
Anyone get a fix?
fyi i have tried Untangle and smoothwall same results :(
