Allowing DC++ and MSN(trillian) in pfsense?
-
Sorry if these are really simple question's but I can't seem to find the answers I want using the serach.
Im behind a proxyserver at uni that blocks alot of things so I have to spoof my mac address to be able to connect which works fine as I can access the web. I just have a few questions,
-
I use trillian for my MSN but it won't let me connect to the server when im running pfsense is there anything I need to allow? I tried allowing the ports but it does'nt seem to work.
-
I run a DC++ server and I can't seem to get it to allow other's or myself to connect to it. I tried to enable the ports for that also but it does'nt seem to work, I think its something I missed between the WAN and LAN interface somewhere. I can connect to other server's apart from I can't dl of anyone but I know thats a firewall setting somewhere that ive not allowed yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Have a look at status>systemlogs, firewall when trying to do the failing connections. You'll see blocked events there. By clicking on the icon on front of the line it will tell you which rule triggered the block. Find out what you need to allow by browsing the logs.
You mention a proxy. Are you sure it's allowing these kind of connections? Also are you sure there is not a firewall in front of you that is blocking your incoming connection attempts? Does your pfSense have a public IP and does it match the reported IP at http://whatsmyip.org ?

I'll do the first bit thanks, it worked fine with a D-Link router It just get crashing as it could't handle the traffic that was being passed through it. My Ip is the same as whats shown on the link you gave me.
It does appear to connect to Trillian (well says connected) just no user's show up as online.
The rule that shows is
<192.168.1.1>
The rule that triggered this action is:
@23 anchor "firewallout" all
that's for the majority of them.
edit:
Ok I managed to allow other people to connect to the hub by mapping the ip's, now I just need to reverse it so I can connect to it? Or am I missing something….ok that was simple I need to put the internal ip in as im mapping from one to the other. Feel quite stupid now.
Would I have to do the same to get msn to work? Map from the other one to my internal ip?
Thanks for the help so far.

Sounds like you are talking about split DNS? I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. What do you mean with "map"?
-
sorry I meant put my etxernal IP (which everyone connect's to) to my internal IP which is what im hosting the service upon.
I seemed to get some issue's that way and I still can't work out how to allow msn but apart from that it seems to do the job well :) fairly intuitive to use aswell, i'll just play a little more to try and sort this problem with MSN.
