hello, i have been doing some reading about pfsense tonight, and might like to give it a try..

my requirements are fairly simple, I just find that im always battling with routers and their capabilities with concurrent connections.. when i use p2p programs especially i run into more and more issues with the connection..

hooking up and setting up the basic idea i think i can handle.. the only question is about using my wireless router as an access point / hub..  if thats the point inbetween the pfsense and my devices.. would they still be limited to the concurrent connections of the router?

      is there a better suggestion?

If you're using it purely as an access point it shouldn't limit the number of connections.

Another solution is to install an access point mode capable wifi card in your pfsense box and use it directly.
        See: http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Supported_Wireless_Cards
