      Hello moderators.  :)

What is the correct procedure for getting a thread updated or modified, that is not your own, if it contains information that outdated or incorrect?

A number of threads I regularly post in are now sufficiently old that posts from the beginning are very out of date. This seems to regularly cause confusion among new users who are trying to use a tweak for 1.2 on 2.0, for example.

The solution to this is simply to put a notice in the first post pointing users toward the end. However the thread is old it is likely that the author of the first post is hard to contact. PM'ing moderators doesn't seem like the way to go.

      Steve

That's what mods are for ;-)

You can use the "report post" function and describe the problem, and perhaps suggest some text to put there. We all get copied on those and whoever is online and capable of fixing it can get it done.

Ah yes, I suppose I just associate the report function with abuse.
It seems, I don't know, rude to PM the moderators. Like it could get out of hand quickly if many people did it.
I'll use the report function. Thanks.

Sending a PM to moderators asking for personal help with a pfSense problem is frowned upon

Sending a PM for a forum issue to correct a post that could be problematic should be fine. :-)

Though I would classify misinformation a form of "abuse" so the report post button seems like a good choice to me, though don't go too crazy with it.
