I've recently had to reboot my pfSense 2.0 i386 box because of a new cable modem installation.  After the reboot, I can no longer obtain WebGUI access.  The /var/log/system.log file reports the following error:

Sep 21 06:27:39 firewall php: : The command '/usr/local/sbin/lighttpd -f /var/etc/lighty-webConfigurator.conf' returned exit code '1', the output was '/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libpcre.so.0" not found, required by "lighttpd"'

      Anybody have any ideas?

P.S. It's rather frustrating that when you choose option 11 from the SSH panel, it just reports:

      Enter an option: 11

      Restarting webConfigurator... done.

      *** Welcome to pfSense 2.0-RELEASE-pfSense (i386) on firewall ***

Leading one to believe that it's working fine.  This should really be reporting the error.

Try to upload a full update file and then re upgrade firmware.

Sorry for the late reply…I didn't get an email saying anyone replied though I've got my preferences set to send me an email....strange.

Thanks for the suggestion...I wasn't aware that you could apply the full update to the existing version (I've only bee using pfSense for about a month).

I have the pfSense book, but this was a bit beyond the abilities of that book.

That did the trick! Thank you!

If it's any assistance to someone in the future, I've been trying to install Snort (before it was listed as snort-dev) and the install failed.  I then chose the 'reinstall' option, which hung on "Deinstall commands..." and that was the end of it.  Now, snort is listed as an installed package (though it's not in the services menu) and it cannot be re-installed or removed.  Guess I'll just leave it for now.

          Thanks again for the help!
