      Hi,

i'm trying to set up pfSense 2.0 amd64-Version on a VM (VMware Workstation 7.1) but i cannot get any kind of network connection to work :-(

Open VM Tools are installed, i've tried the vmxnet and e1000 NICs with no success.

Standard-Gateway is set and i can ping it, too. Nameservers are set correctly and they're pingable, too.

I've disabled Hardware-Checksum-Offload in Advanced Options, but still no luck :-(

      Examples:

      2.0-RELEASE][admin@pfSense.localdomain]/root(21): pkg_add -r wget
Error: Unable to get ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/amd64/packages-8.1-release/Latest/wget.tbz: Invalid argument
pkg_add: unable to fetch 'ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/amd64/packages-8.1-release/Latest/wget.tbz' by URL

      2.0-RELEASE][admin@pfSense.localdomain]/root(21): nslookup files.pfsense.org
      /usr/src/lib/bind/isc/../../../contrib/bind9/lib/isc/unix/socket.c:1699: internal_send: 208.67.222.222#53: Invalid argument

      /usr/src/lib/bind/isc/../../../contrib/bind9/lib/isc/unix/socket.c:1699: internal_send: 208.67.220.220#53: Invalid argument
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

Thanks for the help & Greetings from Germany

      Steve

VMware Workstation 8.0 did the trick. The problem is gone now :-)

Additionally I have to say that i've rebooted the Host Machine with a custom compiled Kernel (Debian Squeeze).
