Multiple IP addresses on the LAN port
-
I need to set up multiple IP addresses on the LAN port. This is easy in m0n0wall which I use at home. But on pfSense 2.0-Release, there doesn't seem to be a little tab on the Interfaces: LAN page allowing that. All the addresses I need are part of the same block. For example:
172.16.0.1 The default gateway everyone without a static public IP address uses. (We don't use DHCP.)
172.16.0.10 The default gateway for anyone with a static public IP address (and thus 1:1NATed) uses.
172.16.1.13 The address of this piece of hardware. (This will be the 13th gateway router we've set up.)
172.16.2.1 The primary DNS server. All of these addresses would be tied to the same port (LAN) on the pfSense box.
Anyone want to point me in the right direction on this?

go to firewall -> virtual ips.
then add 'ip alias'

Hi,
Would it be possible to setup the following
- 10.1.1.1/24 (LAN)
- 192.168.1.1/24 (LAN)
Both IP block run on on LAN port (no VLAN) with no routing between the two and also DHCP for both IP blocks. BTW, only have one WAN port with one public IP.

Use one subnet per interface.
In your case, use wan,lan,opt1

Must the interface opt1 a physical UTP port or a virtual one?

Can be via vlan tag on same interface as lan or a physical interface.

While you can have both subnets on a single interface, you can not have a DHCP for both ranges.
Only one rsnge per interface.
How would the server know out of which pool it would have to assign if 2 were available?
