      Does this apply to the freebsd version too?  If so, I imagine it may take awhile for us to get a patch…

        Highly unlikely that the same bug effects both Linux and FreeBSD since this is a kernel issue, but it's possible a similar issue exists in FreeBSD. At this point I doubt it, but I'm sure the FreeBSD security team is looking at this. If they find something it'll be patched and fixed in pfsense ASAP, until then it's safe to assume this isn't an issue.

          FreeBSD would have released a advisory if it was an issue because some of the code is borrowed from the madwifi project.  I have seen no such advisories so I wouldn't sweat it until we see one.
