OpenVPN on carrier p2p connection
We'll likely be getting a p2p link from our carrier to a datacenter. How would I go about setting up an openVPN p2p link when both sides of the link are essentially local?
The same as any other. Treat the p2p interface as a wan. OpenVPN server should listen on that interface, client should connect to that IP using that interface.
Though I must ask - if it's a point to point interface, why use openvpn? Just add some static routes for the networks reachable via the opposing router.
Unless you don't trust the carrier of the p2p circuit, then encrypt all you want.
