Cannot Login
-
Hi all,
I have setup the Captive Portal function on my wireless and I seem to be having an issue logging in.
1. Created a few users in the user manager. Do they need to belong to a particular group?
2. When logging in with the above user, I see no error and the page just reloads…Hoping someone might know whats up.

I think your login page and your error page are the same!!

Thanks for the response.
I don't quite understand your comment? I had only edited the main page. "Portal page contents" I had not edited either of the other two pages.
Please let me know.
Thanks! -
the clients DNS server MUST be the ip address of the CaptivePortal interface.
If you use any redirection URL it must be http://www.google.com and must not be just www.google.com.
Is it working with the default pfsense CaptivePortal page ?

What's in the portal auth log?
-
Thanks both of you for your replies.
1. I am testing from a wireless device so it is hitting the correct portal interface. I do not desire any redirection (other than sending the user to where they were trying to go after successful authentication) and simply want to authenticate before allowing internet access.
2. Also I would love to revert back to the default page to test but I am unsure of how.
3. My portal auth log (Under Status –> System Logs --> Portal Auth) does not seem very helpful but perhaps I am wrong, nor do I understand why there are a few other services in there...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

found another post with the default pages. Will try them.

I believe I may have fixed it using the default pages. Can't actually test it fully as I'm doing this remotely, but I don't get the same issues when testing the page.
Will let you know if the issue persists.
Thanks

Your portal auth log above shows no login attempts, which means there was some kind of problem with your portal page at that time in that it wasn't posting the credentials.
-
Thanks for your response. Yes I think there must have been something wrong with my page. I tried the "default" page I found and it seems to be working fine.
I'm curious what I could have been missing then; or why my page failed.
Anyway thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
Cheers!

I am having this exact issue. I tested the new pages on a VM and it all worked fine, but when I put the pages on the firewall, the captive portal login will not work. PortalAuth log shows no logins.
