        Enable captiveportal on an interface
browse to CP and download the html page.

        http://pfsense_ip:8000

Or search the forum for custom portal pages.

I've already enabled the captive portal and I've also assigned it to the LAN interface.
Forget about the custom page for now, I'm just using the default PFSense page and it's working at all.

I've configured CP to redirect to www.google.co.uk but it's not doing it's job, sometimes the default page won't even load to enter the credentials and when it decide to load it's no redirecting.

Honestly I don't know what is wrong, I'm following tutorials on the net which basically they are all the same and with very simple CP configuration.

The version of PFSense is 2.0.1-Release (i386)

          Thanks

          Regards,
          Brian Stivala

the clients on the CP interface must use the DNS of the pfsense interface.
The redirect URL must be in format http://www.google.com

              Hi Nachtfalke,

First off all thanks for the reply, since now you are the only one that I'm getting frequent replies from.

At last the CP logon page is coming up normally, and since I'm on CARP failover I have to enter the virtual ip in the DNS field of my host. However in IE the redirection is success but I cannot see the logout window, on the other hand in Chrome I can see the logout window but it's not redirecting. I have to reload the page to have access.

Do you have any idea what this might be?

              Thanks
              Regards,
              Brian Stivala

Web browsers trying to be smart…  IE is blocking your popup.  Chrome is blocking your redirect.  It gets to be real fun when some antivirus link checker tries to check the database for the captive portal link and fails...  ::)

Is this behavior common among AV software? (I've never actually used a AV …). And if it is relatively common, is there a "best practice" for dealing with that? Perhaps a list of URLs used by popular antivirus programs, so one can white-list them ?

When you will need some ideas again, here is a link with some good custom pages:

It seems to be in the hotels we support.  And they keep moving the servers!
