I've been having an ongoing issue with my WLAN and LAN communicating with each other. Here's how things are configured.

ISP1 and ISP2 –> PFSENSE --> 10/100/1000 SWITCH  --> LAN PCs and WLAN AP (dlink wireless n something or other)

I have no issues getting online with anything whether is it Physically connected to the switch, or connected to the WAP.

Where my issue lies is connecting from WLAN to LAN.

Say for example, my workstation at home is 10.2.10.20 and my laptop is at 10.2.10.21. The workstation is cabled to the switch, the laptop wireless. For some reason, I cannot ping from the workstation to the laptop. HOWEVER, if I run a ping from the laptop to the workstation, it immediately works and I receive replies. After I have sent at least 1 ping request from the laptop to the workstation, the workstation will then see the laptop and allow traffic to pass and I can ping from workstation to laptop.

PFSense has an IP of 10.2.10.1
WLAN AP is at 10.2.10.2 and DHCP is off so it is served via pfsense.

Pinging 10.2.10.21 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 10.2.10.20: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 10.2.10.20: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 10.2.10.20: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 10.2.10.20: Destination host unreachable.

      Ping statistics for 10.2.10.21:
          Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

Not sure what diagnostic information I can provide that would assist, but if anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would greatly appreciate them.

Your AP is acting as a router but your configuration requires it to be a bridge?

You have connected the WAN port of your AP to the switch instead of a LAN port?

What has  IP address 10.2.10.20? Why is it replying "Destination host unreachable"?
