      Hi -

I am brand new to pfSense and I love it so far.  I just need a pointer or two.  I'd like to set up pfSense to basically emulate an off-the-shelf WAP, ala Netgear, Linksys, etc…  I just want to be able to surf the net and have a decent firewall in place.  I am just not sure how to get everything going.  I've read about bridging interfaces, but I am not sure I need that.

I am running 1.2-RC2 on embedded (on a soekris) with an EMP-8602 miniPCI IIIB radio card with OPT1 set up as an AP.  All seems OK on a test LAN, but I haven't yet connected this to the ISP.  I've read the pdf on transparent firewalling and I've in fact bridged the LAN interface to the WAN interface so as to be able to run with the LAN cable detached (which will be the way this will run once I get it going).

Am I on the right track?  Again, this is a fantastic product... I just need the basics of wireless routing and firewalling.

      Thanks!

      Nick

Yeager: "I'm taking her up for testing.  Any objections?"
Tower: "No sir.  No objections.  You are clear to taxi."
Tower: ("He must have clearance, right?" "Yeah sure, he must.  It's here someplace…")
