      Hi there,

My colleague is trying to use FTP over CURL to download some files, but it gave this error curl: (7) couldn't connect to host, I connected him to another network which is firewall free, he can download properly, I tried to open any to any on the pfsense firewall, but no help. the command he was using is curl –ftp-ssl -u ftp-83889:VxrIj -O  ftp site//files

Appreciate if anyone can ell me what went wrong.

      Thank you!

Under system logs: system tab, nothing much shown, under firewall tab, I did not see anything related to my IP address, there is no status logs under system logs, I am using 1.2.2 version

kind of off topic, but why are you using such an OLD version of pfsense?

Keep in mind that using ftp-ssl is encrypted, so the ftp helper would not be able to alter the port command and you could be sending your local IP to the server for the data connection

Off the top I am not sure if curl uses active or passive for ftp?  Here

this is great url that goes over difference between active and passive ftp. http://slacksite.com/other/ftp.html

Thanks for the reply, we have been using this version since 5 years ago, will be upgrading to 2.03 hopefully in near future.
