      Hi,

In the "System: Advanced: Admin Access" I ticked the box at the "Console menu > Password protect the console menu" then had it rebooted.

I was happy because it asked a password at the console before it finalized its boot up. When I put my login and password, it went to a root command prompt!?

So where is the console? I mean the menu where I used to change my IP interface, reoot the webconfigurator and everything?

      Any help is much appreciated.

      Thanks,

      Nubee

Run /etc/rc.initial to get the menu.

Then go into your web config and uncheck that option if you want to undo that setting and reboot…

(Just a suggestion from Mr. Obvious)

            Thanks alot!

I also run into something that I again needed your help.

I am trying to run my box headless. My box is sitting in win8 > VB I have it successfully running. My only concern is when I try to remote connect. Instead of me connecting to the win8 desktop, I am directly connecting to the box console.

I followed the guidelines of win8 remote connection.

Have set the NAT. The destination point port is the same Server Port in the VB. The NAT IP is equal to the IP of the Physical machine WAN.

            Any idea?

              @doktornotor:

Run /etc/rc.initial to get the menu.

Thanks! But how would I run /etc/rc.initial ? I am not really a savvy with regard to console commands. Can you please give me the correct syntax on how to run it? Thanks!

Huh? You type it to console and press enter.

HAHA - I waited hours for that answer…  Saw it coming a mile away.  :P

/etc/rc.initial  (This is the part where you press enter)

Then sit back and have a few slices of simi-ripe mango with salty shrimp paste...

                  Is it not working?

                    My bad!
I had it type it earlier as you said it and then I got an error message. The reason why I got it wrong is that damn letter "n" I overlooked it needs a little force to press, so all along I was typing /etc/rc.iitial without that letter "n"…my bad!

Okay so I was able to bring out the console menu but how if I wish the menu to hide again? Is it possible?

Not sure the command, but if you want to break it again, you should be able to just check the same button again in the web gui?

(Yeah - I like everything there EXCEPT the mango with shrimp paste)
