Can pfSense be a 'router' and a NAT router?
We are getting a new network here and have been given a /29 range – x.x.x.24/29 they wrote, with gateway of x.x.x.25.
Our current setup is similar but we use a router provided by the ISP to handle routing our 5 IPs through the gateway, then pfSense uses one of those IPs for our LAN and any port forwarded servers.
So, do we have to buy a new Cisco or Sonicwall router to put before pfSense or is there a way to have pfSense do it all? If so, how?
Your pfSense box gets 1 of your 5 IPs, the other 4 are added as VIPs and can be used for NAT.
