Do I have to use the Traffic Shaper wizard or can I manually configure it?
-
I'm still a newbie when it comes to QoS and traffic shaping, but I think the best way to learn is to start from scratch instead of having a wizard automatically configure everything for.
With that said, I'd like to configure pfSense traffic shaping on my own instead of having it create 30 different traffic shaping rules automatically.
I'm familar enough with networking (basic TCP/IP knowledge is enough I think…?) that I think I'll be ok.
Thanks for any help!

Go through the shaper wizard and create 1 rule… like select the option to improve VoIP, and nothing else. Then you'll see what rules the shaper created and you can start playing from there,

Thanks! Will the same amount of queues (and pipes?) be created if I pick one rule in the wizard versus picking 10 rules in the wizard?
-
No, you'll get lots more if you create more rules in the wizard, that's why I recommend starting with one… but naturally it's up to you :)

I've tried creating my own. I've generally found that it is easier to run the wizard and rename/delete/add things based on that.

when createing a queue manually, are the Service Curve (sc) parameters mandatory?
I created several aditional queues and i left blank those items (im not sure what to put in every one), did i made something stupid or the traffic shaper takes some default values?Regards
