      i've just installed pfsense 2.1 on an esxi 5.1, installed vmware tools and added a vmxnet3 adapter.

      pfsense itself sees the interfaces as 10gbps:

      [2.1-RELEASE][admin@pfsense.localdomain]/root(2): ifconfig vmx3f0
      vmx3f0: flags=8843 <up,broadcast,running,simplex,multicast>metric 0 mtu 1500
              options=bb <rxcsum,txcsum,vlan_mtu,vlan_hwtagging,jumbo_mtu,vlan_hwcsum>ether 00:0c:29:6b:ed:75
              inet6 fe80::20c:29ff:fe6b:ed75%vmx3f0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x3
              inet 192.168.2.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.2.255
              nd6 options=1 <performnud>media: Ethernet 10Gbase-T
              status: active

      but when i poll pfsense with snmp, it reports the speed as 640kbps:

      Found standard interfaces:
      1:em0: (001) em0,Connected,1 GBit/s,Ethernet,em0, 64 Bit
      2:em1: (002) em1,Connected,1 GBit/s,Ethernet,em1, 64 Bit
      3:vmx3f0: (003) vmx3f0,Connected,640 KBit/s,Ethernet,vmx3f0

      any advice?</performnud></rxcsum,txcsum,vlan_mtu,vlan_hwtagging,jumbo_mtu,vlan_hwcsum></up,broadcast,running,simplex,multicast>
