      Hi,
      1. anyway i can check and see what's the specific IP that's sucking up the Bandwidth real time?? like a sniffer?
      2. once i am able to 'find' that specific IP, how do i 'block' it in real time?

        1. Try installing Darkstat or Ntop.
        2. Create a fw rule on the LAN tab blocking the offending IP.

is there a way that PFSense can alert us when a certain bandwidth is reached?
or send an alert after a set maximum bandwidth is reached and maintained for a certain amount of time?

          thanks

            ssh to pfsense
            choose option 9 (pftop)
            Press F1, press shift-r
