      Are these snapshots using still using the RELENG_2_1 branch? Also, https://github.com/pfsense/pfsense has been very busy over the last couple of months. Are the changes I'm seeing for 2.1.1 or for 2.2?

        RELENG_2_1 branch is for pfSense 2.1.x, master (aka HEAD) is for 2.2.

        With snapshots you probably do not want to be running gitsync alongside it unless you know there is a PHP/script only change that you need to pick up.
