I have a DSL connection (WAN1) and Satellite connection (WAN2)

Can someone please tell me how i can schedule WAN1 to go offline between 12am and 5pm and make WAN2 become the primary connection?

I have WAN 2 setup as a rollover which works great but only if WAN1 goes down, but as the Satellite is not metered between midnight and 5am i would like to set my pc's to do Windows/ Game updates using the Satellite.

      Thank you in advance.

        I thik you mean 12am and 5am.
Anyway, make a schedule for that timerange. Put a rule above your normal failover rule, source all, destination all (or whatever traffic you want), gateway WAN2_GW. Then during that time period the rule will happen and traffic will be forced to WAN2.
And maybe you want to fail back to WAN1 during that time, if WAN2 is down - if so then make a Gateway group WAN2_Priority with WAN2 tier1, WAN1 tier 2. Use WAN2_Priority as the gateway in the scheduled rule.

As the Greek philosopher Isosceles used to say, "There are 3 sides to every triangle."

I set this up yesterday and it seems to work except that if a computer is already downloading something on WAN1 it won't stop and use WAN2, only new connections will go straight to WAN2.

How do I make pfsense drop all connections on WAN1 at the specified time?

I was updating games last night and they would not move to WAN2 unless I terminated the download and started again.
