As I'm sure everyone does, we get a pile of Russian and Chinese IP addresses trying to log into our pfSense boxes with SSH.  While I am working on limiting the SSH access (not sure which interfaces they are coming into), I notice in the logs that the sshlockout does not appear to be working.  When it says "Locking out x.x.x.x after 15 failed attempts", it still allows and logs attempts every 2 seconds or more right after that.  Check this out:

It works fine. Depending on when the bot hits 15 failed attempts, it could get as many as 4 or 5 more attempts through. It does not kill states. After 5 failed auth attempts, sshd kills your TCP connection, which then leaves you blocked.
