I can't seem to make my system with the following configuration work with VLANs.

      Host
      OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
      NIC: 2x Realtek 8111E PCI-E GBE
      VM: VirtualBox 4.3.14

      Guest
      OS: PfSense 2.1.4
      Virtual NIC 1: Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop 82540EM - Bridged to Realtek - em0
      Virtual NIC 2: Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop 82540EM - Bridged to Realtek - em1

When I have tagged packets they seem to get dropped. I'm using a workaround that's below which is more of a "band-aid" solution. But in doing so I can no longer have a untagged VLAN. Also, I'm severely limited to the number of VLANs I can create because I'm creating virtual adapters in Windows to bridge with PfSense.

        check this:

The "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" NIC can be configured to not strip the vlan tags, by going to the Adapter Settings and setting "Priority & VLAN" to "Priority & VLAN disabled"
