Locked out of webgui
-
is there a way to access the webgui through wan I may of removed lan from the interface or something else silly
I do not have a nullmodem cable yet its on order I have the netgate apu
-
https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/I_locked_myself_out_of_the_WebGUI,_help!
particularly this one:
Remotely Circumvent Firewall Lockout by Temporarily Changing the Firewall Rules
You could (very temporarily) disable firewall rules by typing:pfctl -d
Once you have regained the necessary access, turn the firewall back on by typing:
pfctl -e
-
the link is dead
I have no access at all and no null modem cable so no way of changing rules
-
You can't SSH into it?
-
no unless im doing something wrong
just got it today -
You have SSH access unless you blocked it.
Try to SSH in on the LAN side with a linux machine.
-
it wont connect on lan all I get is green light no yellow and wan wont connect
my just have to wait for null cableI am using putty to ssh 192.168.1.1:22
-
You could always reflash it since it's brand new and start over. Or reboot and select the second partition and start over? Don't know if it's nano or ssd or what.
-
OK - Question…
If you plug your modem/router into the WAN and then plug your computer into the LAN, do you have internet access?
-
Duh. Twice today. He can't select the second partition without a serial cable huh….
-
I can acess the web through my old router but the new apu I may of goofed when installing squid but I am using a msata
-
I guess you will be waiting for a cable then…
-
just hope I did not do a major "expletive" up and break it byond fix
-
Unless you got it wet and dried it in the microwave, I doubt you broke it permanently.
-
atleast I did a BK before I stared
-
What kind of interfaces are on that machine?
Intel? Realtek?
-
I'm beginning to think that people should image their drives so if they make mistake they can just pull the drive and use a real computer with a keyboard and monitor to restore original image.
-
Its http://store.netgate.com/kit-APU1C4.aspx realtek, I am no stranger to putty just thought there may of been a way to do it with out the cable. its msata and I dont have a adapter
-
Yeah - If you had SSH open on the LAN or WAN you would be all set.
I guess you didn't forward any SSH ports on the WAN then? -
Yeah - If you had SSH open on the LAN or WAN you would be all set.
I guess you didn't forward any SSH ports on the WAN then?Your avatar is me right now
That will be the first thing I do is set opt1 for ssh
-
Its a nice board anyway.
You will fix it -
Thanks I will update this once I get the cable and stuff to let you all know
-
The cable came in the mail db9 but it does not work I get unable to open in putty
-
I'm sure there is an embedded expert out there who will tell you how to fix it.
This is why I like my pfsense to be as small as possible… With usb ports for a dvd-rom and at least a vga port...
At least. -
Try speeds from 9600 to 115200
-
-
DB9 is the serial port. No idea about your computer. Do you see anything if it's plugged in serial and you restart the pfSense??
Also, I'm sure netgate can talk you through what you need to do.

I know its working as i get the beep at the end
-
This is probably a bad idea….
however...I notice that that board has 3 (Realtek RTL8111E) ports...
You wouldn't happen to have a computer handy with a couple of realtek NICs that will accept an msata?
-
Please install heat spreader as described in the prior section.
- Insert a boot device (SD card, mSATA SSD, USB stick, or PXE through LAN).
- Connect serial port to a PC through null modem cable (RXD / TXD crossed over). Set terminal
emulator to 115200 8N1. - Connect Ethernet as needed.
- Connect a 12V DC power supply to the DC jack. Power supply should be able to supply at least 18W for some margin. To avoid arcing, please plug in the DC jack first, then plug the adapter into mains.
The board should now power on. All three LEDs will light during BIOS POST, then the system will try to boot. You should see BIOS messages on the serial console. Press F12 for boot device selection:
Build date: Apr 1 2014
System memory size: 2017 MB
Press F12 for boot menu.
Select boot device:
1. USB MSC Drive 8.07
2. iPXE (PCI 00:00.0)
3. Payload [setup]
4. Payload [memtest]

-
It can be. What did you order?
-
Has this ever booted pfsense sucessfully?
-
Has this ever booted pfsense sucessfully?
yes but I accidentally removed the lan interface trying to get dhcp working
http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=95_96&item_id=018521
also a db9 gender changer -
can you give me your public IP (in a pm) and plug the wan into the PUBLIC internet?
I want to see what it looks like from here if its possible.
Also, this thing has 3 ports?
What about the other port? Its not functioning?
-
Cant access My IP as I have no access to lan and Opt1 was never enabled
-
Buy a USB to mSATA adapter and get an image for pfsense for that device and size drive and image it to the msata maybe…
I'm not a serial interface loving guy.
