setting up radius authentication on pfsense 1.0.1

I've added the input types auth_user and auth_pass to the splash page.

since upgrading to 1.0.1 the kernel no longer crashes, but i'm getting 500 internal server error after submitting the form.

the radius server is not getting any messages from pfsense, and I dont see any messages in the lighthttp.error.log

any and all suggestions to resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Please upgrade to 1.2RC5 (you can find it at http://snapshots.pfsense.org/FreeBSD6/RELENG_1_2/ ). It's so close to be the final 1.2 version that it's rather save to use and has lots of issues of the 1.0.1 version already solved.

I'm very leary to upgrade to that just yet as this is currently in production.

I've tested with the "user authentication" method and created a test user within captive portal itself, and it worked great.

cant seem to find a "bug list" that 1.2 has solved yet, can you point me in that direction?

There are noumerous fixes. You can get some info from our blog ( http://blog.pfsense.org/?p=164 ) for each new snapshot, However even the underlaying freebsd has changed a lot. If you want to "testdrive" the new version backup your config.xml to a floppy or usb thumbdrive and fire up a system with the latest 1.2 releasecandidate livecd with the config.xml holding media connected/inserted. You might need to reassign nics if the testhardware has different nics. This way you can go back to the old system by just swapping networkcables between the testbox and the old system.

just realized that the first time I grabbed the wrong file and tried to do the upgrade with the embedded, which obviously didnt work properly DOH!!

once I grabbed the right file, and did the upgrade everything is working great!

I have another issue, but that is for another forum post :)

              Thanks a bunch
