I am not new to firewalls, but new to pfsense. I constantly see this up top on the ticker, and in the Filter Reload Status.

There were error(s) loading the rules: /tmp/rules.debug:43: syntax error /tmp/rules.debug:44: syntax error pfctl: Syntax error in config file: pf rules not loaded - The line in question reads [43]: rdr on proto tcp from any to any port = 1723 -> 127.0.0.1

Someone shed some light on this for me?

        Hmm…

Removed Frickin PPTP Proxy and the error went away...

I don't need that for the moment, but I would still wonder what caused it.

The frickin pptp proxy listens on the loopback adress (127.0.0.1) so all traffic running to tcp port 1723 is redirected to it. However this package is not stable yet so you shouldn't use it atm.
