So, when are we going to have a REAL hangout?
-
+1 for Tirol. We can ski as well :D
Sweden sucks in so many ways that its more easy to explain the infinite universe and the Keppler constant and why there is so much dark matter that we havent seen…
KEEP AWAY FROM SWEDEN!!
The air in Tirol is amongst the best in the world.
As it is in Switzerland. That country, however, is horribly expensive (and an accident waiting to happen, from my economical point of view).
In Germany, and in Austria, you can ski, have great air, decent prices and decent food.
On Sweden, and Norway, and Denmark: I have no desire whatsoever to visit these countries any time in my life. Not for the natives, they are nice and civilized just like the rest of northern-Europe (I have some dear internet friends there), but because of how the politicians have raped those countries into quite a hell (I feel for my fellow europeans over there who have to live under the tiranny over there - hard to imagine, but from what I know of it: even worse than in The Netherlands. Of course, this is your economist rambling away again).
Now, ever since I was a young boy, watching Starsky and Hutch, and later Dallas, Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, Miami Vice: my wet dream has always been to go to USA. These huge old buildings, that classic infrastructure, enfin: amid the horrors of today's "music" of the last 20 years, along came Alicia Keys, with:
"New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made".
Struck me right in my heart: what I wanted to see as a young boy, and ever since wanted to see, was said there in one sentence.
Of course, then came 9/11, with all the horrors of customs in the USA that followed that, with eye scans, finger prints, and stuff like that.
After that, I've had many opportunities to go to the USA because of my jobs, working for the rather larger multinationals.
I always sent my staff.
Not that I have anything to hide, not because I'm a criminal, but because I have no clue what will happen with my data 20 years after the visit, whilst society changing into the wrong direction minute after minute.
I of course don't blame the USA for these measures: 9/11 was horrible, and you have to do something. Maybe, if I was in the shoes of the gov.officials I would have done the same. But nevertheless: I think I will never fulfil my young boy's dream: walk around in the land of the free. I don't like iris scans and fingerprints when I'm not a criminal, not knowing what 'less talented' 'government officials', and the 'less than less 'law system'' will do with my data x years down the road. While, at the same time, I completely do understand these measures were not put into place to harass tourists but to protect USA-citizens. I will never see NYC or Miami. Life… :-[
I'm sifting off once again: I'm out ;D

Ha! ::)
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I've never been to Sweden, i'll withhold judgement until I have.
Sometimes you can assess things remotely, using what we economists call 'indirect indicators', way more valuable than 'official' (lied) 'statistics :)
I've not been to Denmark either though. ;)
Steve
Since by now I know you are extremely intelligent: if intrest rates on houses can be had for 0,5%, Steve: we know all we need to know about Denmark ;D
-
I'm an American on extended vacation…
Not sure if that makes me an ex-pat yet.
Me and my boss are getting along famously though - no boss.
-
-
Nope - I've never been.

In case anybody was wondering if I perhaps was exaggerating a little bit; this just in:
http://www.powned.tv/nieuws/binnenland/2015/01/geliquideerde_amsterdam_is_vro.html
In Dutch, so Google Translate should help you if you happen not to be able to read the World Language Dutch ( ;D )
'60 years old Turkish woman liquidated while standing on her balcony. Bullets, from a Kalashnikov, were flying everywhere, destroying car windows too'.
In other news, yesterday, weapons, destined for Amsterdam Motor Cycle Club, intercepted by Dutch and Kroatian police (pics…): http://www.geenstijl.nl/mt/archieven/2015/01/zwaar_wapentuig_bestemd_voor_o.html
Same day: http://www.powned.tv/nieuws/binnenland/2015/01/toeristen_mijden_adam_door_par.html
Summary: tourists, especially Americans, avoid Amsterdam due to the Paris massacre.
Might be interesting to read the comments by the Dutch below the topic, if Google Translate helps you. Basically it says what I say. Quote:
Management summary of that quote, translated:
The city of A'dam, the bars and restaurants ('horeca' - HOtelREstaurantCAfe) and the A'dammers themselves are trying to do whatever they can to clean A'dam from tourists: EUR 3,75 for beer size 'small'.
And finally, two pics: Amsterdam police in the mid '70's, and Amsterdam police (SWAT team, KM, Dutch marines) in 2015 (Yes, fellow world citizens not from Europe: the 'eu' has brought much good with open borders, and free money for everybody who doesn't want to work. See them taxes and gov.debts running up. Not even a 3 years old would share his valuable toys with somebody who doesn't share too, so the retards in the EU must not even have the intellectual capacities of a 3 years old…)
Beer and steak and lazy jokes, in Tirol ;D

Its time for operation "Enema of the State"…

Yesterday night's news:
Huge anti-terror operation in Belgium - our neigbors. Returned syria-terrorist scum wanted to attack police station in Verviers. Belgium special police forces countered: snipers on the roof, 2 pieces of trash dead, 1 heavily wounded. Later that night more shootings in Luik, Belgium (Kalashnikovs again). Police stations all across the countries guarded by policemen with machine guns. Jewish schools in Antwerpen closed this friday because of threads:

Moving on: http://www.geenstijl.nl/mt/archieven/2015/01/isis_doet_oproep_aan_eurojihad.html
Scum calls for all 'sleepers' in Europe and the USA to attack cops and civilians where they can: spread the
lovefear.Paris, Verviers, Luik. I'm drawing a dotted line to see where the next stop will be…
-
Yeah - So if there is a pfsense get together in Europe people should leave the kalashnikovs at home I guess?
Or at least shave?

If we go do the hangout on a mountain top in Tirol we can see them coming. They the Kalashnikovs, we the Lapua's :)
I'm sure all the bright people in here even can automate our defense using NetBSD. After all, I heard it even runs toasters ;D
We should send the retards that run europe to the USA for some lectures.

For me this is getting way too political and therefore off-topic.
This is a technical forum so please stop it now. Thank you. -

This is a technical forum so please stop it now. Thank you. This is the 'talk about anything section' ;)
If you don't want to read it, then just ignore it, I'm not insulting any forum members, and it's not political what I am writing; I am sharing to those interested what is going on outside their local news papers :)
PS Earlier via PM you contacted me to ask me more about my previous mentions about Amsterdam, which I answerred, which you thanked me for, and which was the same kind of news as this is.
-
It is somewhat off topic from the original subject which is why people might be reading this in the first place.
You make it sound like it's not safe to leave the house! ::)Steve
-
Fear mongering will not be a factor in site selection I'm sure.
We should stick with beer mongering. (-: -
-
@Mr.:
_PS Earlier via PM you contacted me …
That's why it was PM and not public.I'll be in Amsterdam in week 7-2015 and report back if I get
lost.shot :P_ -
I though getting lost in Amsterdam was a good thing?
-
That's his point. It used to be fun. No more.
So we're not holding the hangout in Amsterdam.
Sweden remains a possibility, though the full pfsense team (those of us who are employed to work on the code, anyway) is typically always as BSDcan.
-
Safely returned back
honehome from Amsterdam. Was a great show with even better evening/night sessions. 8)Back home I found that today's carnival parade (>250k attendees) was cancelled due to a terror warning.
Some islamic idiots are said to have planned something similar to the Boston marathon bombing. Go figure! So I guess Braunschweig, Germany is out of the equation for a hangout as well.
Sorry for OT, it just feels so wired today…Edit: typo

There's always Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
