E2guardian package for pfsense - $??
-
Thanks scoot.

Just sent you $50 usd. Thanks for your work on this, the old DG pf package, and anything else I'm not aware of. I'd be able to donate some more if you were able to get a reporting tool into the package that sends a daily log of content blocks and by what lan ip's to an admin email. I was never able to get that to work with lightsquid / sarg from the threads I found.
Search the forums for dglog2… You can install it for reporting.
At the moment, it doesn't email a report... but I've thought about coding something up to do that...

yeah I've also seen dglog2. The email function is really what I'm looking for as I will have users who want to check the logs that aren't technically inclined and/or are afraid of using the GUI. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Anyone know when we might see an e2guardian package?
-
Waiting for long time, please expedite it
-
Marcello, I know it's not the normal process but is there a chance we could install an alpha release from your repository? We could start testing it…

ok. I'll try to push it this week.

How rude!
I isn't my intention to be critical or mean, just please think about what you type before submitting.
Those who contribute to this project in any way are volunteers. This is a community of people helping their fellow humans. I know you're anxious for this to be released. I am also waiting with "bated breath.", as it were. You can't really rush this kind of stuff.
I don't think you meant any harm or trouble, but forum posts can be read in a different way than they were written, so to speak - what you say, and what other people hear aren't always the same thing.
When was the last time you tried to expedite baking a cake? How did that turn out?
@MarcelloC: Please do keep us up to date with your progress, but don't rush too much if it means sacrificing quality.
Thanks for all of your hard work.

There is nothing rude about it, if you are requesting to fasten the process. I am trying to get message from marcelloc. No intention to push him. I completely understand his work is voluntary but to get best out of pfsense his work is desperately required.
Thanks for taking initiative macelloc. We all appreciate.

Kidding, right… How about expediting your money? Noone gives a damn about how long you've been waiting. ::) ;D

Since i'm getting tired of the current 'buggy at best state' of squidguard.
25$ donated.
-
Boss,
I have already donated $10 and ready to do more, if pfsense work well, not buggy as of today.

Hi
Any news on e2guardian.
-
I second that. Marcello, what part are you working on currently. Not trying to rush you. I know predicting a release date is futile. Just, curious as to what you're working or stuck on. The WEB-UI perhaps?? Just a guess.

Based on previous posts, I thought he had most of it done and was waiting on e2guardian to become official for FreeBSD…
Marcello - I've got a pretty high-level of familiarity with most of the DG code and have modified much of it extensively for my own distro... let me know if you need help with anything on the e2guardian conversion.

Yes. Today I've passed all the afternoon testing and modifying the port options pointed by Renato. I think there is no more issues or comments on the port.

I'll send current files to pfsense repo. I think most gui config are fine too.
-
Sounds like you've outdone yourself. I said it sounds like. I'll reserve final judgement on that for after I've seen the released project. (: Kidding :) .
Seriously though, hard work pays off. Glad you were up to the challenge. I'll check in in the morning. Good night y'all.

Hi, thanks for the good news, waiting for package, appreciate your hard work.

Yea… I looked at e2guardian once before and I don't think there was much difference other than maybe a couple more options. The bulk of the changes were file and directory name changes for the config files (and your templates to control generating a couple of them).Once it is in GIT, let me know if there is something specific you would like me to look at.

e2guardian is now on Freebsd ports ;D
