Package update notifications?
-
Is there a way to make the system send notification e-mails when updates to installed packages are available?
The point of notifications is to inform me about relevant changes, so I don't have to go OCD staring at and refreshing the dashboard.
When e.g. a new version of pfBlocker or snort or OpenVPN is available then that would a rather relevant issue, especially if there were security fixes, but I won't know until I log in and check as it is right now.
So, am I missing a setting somewhere or is this a key omission in the notification section of pfSense?

No, you have to check it yourself. There is no other way to see updates to packages that I am aware of.

Bummer, this should really be added as a feature…
I means short of much too verbose notifications about individual firewall events, what else would one want to use notifications for, if not to be notified about coarse grained things that require an administrator's attention? Package updates would be one of these things...
