i am having issues with my config where when i <host 192.168.1.15="">tries to access a machine via the wan hostname (my.hostname.com:543) which is forwarded to internal ip 192.168.1.16:543. Is there some setting i need to set in the firewall rules to allow this?

      thanks

      Andy</host>

Why would you go trough your WAN when its on the same subnet.

Create a DNS record instead…problem solved.

reason is the app i am using want to be able to access it from when i am outside of my network as well as when i am inside. So using WAN hostname is best solution for me. I had this working on DD-wrt but since i changed to pfsense it no longer works. Must be some ruleset on the firewall.
