How to enable Whatsapp through the proxy server
-
I have just installed squid and dansguardian. I can access the internet via http and https. Unfortunately, whatsapp is not working. How do I enable use of whatsapp on the network?
-
WhatsApp uses ports:
4244
5242
5228
5223
5222If u want to filter on destination:
http://www.whatsapp.com/cidr.txt
-
Thank you but how do I set up the firewall rules?
-
Create a alias for all the ports/destinations.
https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Firewall_Rule_Basics

Create a firewall rules. With your alias as destination ports.

I have created the rule as shown in the attached. Also see the rest of my rules. The funny thing is messages do seem to come in now. I can see them flash on the locked screen on my iphone but when I unlock the phone and go to whatsapp, nothing appears. Whatsapp seems to be continuously processing.

Your rules are not gonna work like this. You have a allow all rule at the top. That rule allows all traffic.
The firewall works on a first match principal. All your traffic matches your first rule at the moment.
