      Hello guys,

I have a following issue with my pfsense.

I have install squid3 and squidguard. and configured blacklist in squidguard. it worked first time but after reboot both squid and squidguard fails to start. upon looking at log here is the entries i found.

May 3 21:33:13 squid[82050]: Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 82527 will not be restarted due to repeated, frequent failures
      May 3 21:33:13 squid[82050]: Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 82527 exited with status 1
May 3 21:33:13 (squid-1): The redirector helpers are crashing too rapidly, need help!
      May 3 21:33:13 squid[82050]: Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 82527 started
      May 3 21:33:10 squid[82050]: Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 59001 exited with status 1
May 3 21:33:10 (squid-1): The redirector helpers are crashing too rapidly, need help!

Can anyone help me with this issue ?

My squid.conf file options i have set are,

Hard disk cache size 40000 MB
      Max object size     100000 KB
      Memory cache size   1500 MB
Maximum object size in RAM 500 KB
      Cache dynamic content true
      Custom refresh_patterns :
      refresh_pattern Packages\.bz2$ 0       20%     4320 refresh-ims
      refresh_pattern Sources\.bz2$  0       20%     4320 refresh-ims
      refresh_pattern Release\.gpg$  0       20%     4320 refresh-ims
      refresh_pattern Release$       0       20%     4320 refresh-ims

then i have set blacklist in proxy filter service ( squidguard ) as
      http://www.shallalist.de/Downloads/shallalist.tar.gz

and configured few acls to block.

AT first it worked but after reboot its not working  :'(

      Here is my system spec,

      CPU Type Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00GHz
      2 CPUs: 1 package(s) x 2 core(s)

      Memory : 4 GB DDR2 800 MHZ

My main intention to use squid as a cache server for most of my local ubuntu packages  and cache as much pages as it could to save bandwidth and block some categories for security purposes.

Please help me fix this :)

      Thanks.

          Hey Stephen,

I can confirm It works by your workaround. I created custom category in proxy filter options and after rebooting services are working fine.

Is there any topic where i could be updated about this issue. i.e some configuration change or patch gets released for this issue so in future i could directly work around this issue.

Again thank you very much for your workaround. :)

            Not yet.
When a new squidguard version is released the package version will be incremented and you will see that System > Packages.
