Captive portal is limiting intranet
-
Hi,
My config on pfsense uses 2 lans and 1 wan.
I want to use captive portal in one of this lans to limit internet access, but when I set the limits
on captive portal configuration page the intranet access is limit around 2,3Mb between the lans.I would like to limit only lan to wan access, how can I do this?

Use traffic shaping instead of limits in the captive portal.

Use traffic shaping instead of limits in the captive portal.
My understanding is somewhat different: if I understand well, what he would like to achieve is to have captive portal intercepting flow only for one of the 2 LANs when target is internet without any captive portal for inter-LAN communication ;)

How I understand it is he is setting limits in captive portal. But he is passing traffic from the captive portal interface to another local interface and that traffic is also being rate-limited, as the firewall has been instructed to do.
Of course it is. Captive portal sets the limit without regard to the destination.
So ditch the CP limits and, instead, pass traffic from the CP LAN to the other local lan without a limit then, on the pass any any "internet" rule, set in and out limiters as you see fit.

What Derelict says… There's no control over limiters in CP, they are applied to ALL traffic.

I have and idea but you need one additional equipment.
