      Hello everyone,

I am new in pfsense I needed it to be my gateway.

I already installed it, everything run well (DHCP-internet service-access the web interface).

My only problem that I need to be able to ping the pfsense lan card from the lan side.

although I don't see any rules for blocking this on lan, I tried to make some rules to allow this but I failed, nothing works. what I miss to make this work?

would you please help in this very simple problem  :)

If it's not responding, then it's probably being blocked. Have you checked the firewall logs for ICMP blocks on the LAN interface?

Perhaps post the screenshot of the rules on your LAN?!

                Hi all
I put my hand on the problem but I can't fix it too, I decided to install a new installation, I noticed that only when I change the default lan ip address from 192.168.1.1 to any other IP I become unable to ping it (LAN nic). if I returned it back to 192.168.1.1 it works good. so what is that could be?

                I used the express installation

                  ...

You would do that if you know about dhcp and rebooting the LAN workstation-client.

so what is that could be?

You've misconfigured it and nobody will be able to help you without seeing your WAN/LAN assignments and your firewall rules.

Quite a few things to be honest.. Your workstation your trying to ping from is not on the same segment your setting it too, your setting the wrong mask when you set it.. I do believe the drop down default to /32 which people have issues with.

Are you trying to do this via gui or console on pfsense?  is pfsense physical or virtual?  Did you try rebooting pfsense after you changed its lan IP?  Did you validate that your workstation your working from is on the same segment as the new one you changed pfsense too?
