Torrent not stopped?
-
I have a Windows PC on 192.168.30.12 on the OPT1 interface running bittorrent. I add a rule to block everything from this IP address
Proto Source Port Destination Port Gateway Queue
* 192.168.30.12 * * * * noneI am surprised that the PC still gets downloads. I do get to block a lot of traffic coming in on the WAN interface
If Source Destination Proto
NG0 r.a.n.50:2164 a.b.c.73:6881 TCPbut it shows Interface to be NG0 when a.b.c.73 is the WAN ip address.
I reset states, reboot the firewall but the PC still downloads at 10k, all I get is some blocked packets on NGO
Questions: How come I cant block torrent like this? What is the NG0 interface doing there?
pfsense 1.2release with Ermals shaper code (shaping disabled). No VPNs, just loadbalancing on (but just one ISP working at the moment).

Where did you create this rule?
On which interface?
At which position in the rule list?
What kind of WAN? -
NG0 means that you WAN is pppoe or mabye pptp. This is normal for pppoe or pptp wans.
Your firewall block rule has to go to the LAN tab as the client is establishing the connection from lan to wan, not to the wan tab. Edit the rule at lan, just change the interface in the rule and save to move the rule to the wan.
