All of the required package files are not downloading. The hang at "Loading package instructions…" means the pfSense package installer is having problems reading the files off the Packages repository server. How long did you wait at the "Loading package instructions..." screen? Once you navigate away from that page, the installation process will cancel and you will be left with an incomplete install.
This is not specifically a Snort problem, but rather indicates an issue with network connectivity between your box and the pfSense Packages Repository server.

Thanks for reply. I left the computer on and waited about 2 hours because I was afraid something like that would happen.
Well well sometimes you are just unlucky. I will export my settings and do a fresh install of pfSense. -
Is there a reason you're using i386 arch pfSense?

No, not really, I dont remember why I choose it when I first installed pfSense (I have been running it for about 2 years now). Maybe it wasnt stable enough back then. But I have made a new installation with 64-bit version now. I know its recommended, thanks :)
