      hi all,

      i download cd-installation .iso then following instruction in pfsense docs.
      when the installation success, i  configured the interface card which have, FXP0 for LAN , FXP1 for WAN and FXP2 for OPT1
      i use this setting,
      FXP0 = LAN = 192.168.1.254
      FXP1 = WAN = 192.168.10.254
      FXP2 = OPT1 = not configured, for temporary use.

      setup the gateway which is 192.168.10.1 through the webgui.
      everything go well, the client can connect to internet.

      then i try to reboot the pfsense, just for final test.
      suddenly, the client can not connect to internet, it can't ping to 192.168.10.1/gateway, but it can ping to 192.168.10.254 (FXP1)
      then i try to ping from the pfsense itself, it can't either.
      then i re-configure the interface (option 1.assign the interfaces)
      reconfig the fxp0, fxp1, and fxp2. it can connect again.

      the problem always shown when, the pfsense restart, shutdown, or power fail.
      it amusing that everytime reconfigure pfsense when the problem show up.

      is there any solution for this ?

      thanks

        What media do you save the config to Floppy, HDD or CF?

          in HDD of course.

          all setting looks like can save, fxp0 = LAN = 192.168.1.254 and fxp1 = WAN = 192.168.10.254
          it can save and wasn't change after reboot.
          the change just in gateway IP 192.168.10.1  ??? ??? ???

          FYI
          i start and following this link http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,7356.0.html instruction
          and using option 99 to install to HDD

            @xaviero:

            You have WAN and LAN on the same layer2 subnet and there is a router in front of you that probably does dhcp as well. At least this is the only explanation that I can think of why your client can ping an adress at the WAN of the pfSense without going through the pfSense or reaching it's LAN subnet. I guess you have messed your network up somehow.
