      hi everybody
im looking to hire some professional networking guru with experience in cantenna wifi!
located in the outer SE suburbs of melbourne
      my delima
i get my internet from my sisters 150m away (due to the telephone exchange/s in the area NEED upgrading and cannot get a connection of my own)
my brother-in-law claims that from the pfsence through the cantenna setup to my house is draining all the internet connection (my network is on a subnetwork from the main house modem wifi router)
telstra (the national phone co. for those not on oz) just pointed to my pfsence without doing any tests as the internet drain!
i am mostly looking for a professional to show the telsta tech doesnt know what he is talking about (more like his regurgitation education)!
i would also like assistance in creating a pfsence traffic shaping to allow my nephew to play his ps4 on the opt network the rest of the family to do whatever without having to disconnect the wifi access point to the cantenna so i can connect!
none of the attempts i have made have worked!!! thanks
      mat

Why not just log the interface. Checkout thre traffic graphs as well..

the problem is finding out the total data of the "parent" network which is unavailable and finding the appropriate traffic management configuration which has always been a struggle! i would like to have the pfsense first so it can be completely balanced, however i have no say on that! so it must remain a sub branch network!

however it doesnt show the traffic from the parent (modem/router) compared to the other users connected to the parent network!

Yeah.  They'll have to log that.

You can see what YOU are using and if it's significantly less than their available bandwidth, there you go.

Of course it doesn't, from that perspective you can't tell. The most you can tell from your side is what your side is actually consuming. That's enough to prove/disprove whether you're using all the bandwidth.

still NEED a pfsence networking professional!!
the adsl connection its self is not the best anyhow, still the pfsense is disconnected so i cant get any internet to my house!
my b-i-l is still convinced that the telstra techs know what they are doing! (wants the server removed from the back room)

Not quite sure what you're looking for. We told you how to graph your usage.  We can't graph their usage. Sounds like your sister married a dick.  Sorry.

Tell you what.  Fly me and my family to Melbourne and put us up in a 4-star for a few days and I'll show you and him what's what with your network.

It probably won't do any good and he'll still want you off.

                      There's always wireless or satellite.

haha ya wouldnt that be nice!!!
there isnt much to do in the area anyway! 30 mins to a mini zoo, steam train ride through the dandenong ranges and a small fun park!
ya from vagas is a bit to far for an expert to come from!! :P
external wifi hasnt really taken off here, both 3/4g and satellite are so expensive its a joke! i do assume that remote area satellite will get a government rebate!
