      2.3 snapshots are now available!

With the Bootstrap changes essentially equating to a rewrite of the entire front end, there are many things that need more testing. We've at least been through all the basics and much of the not-so-basic, but no doubt more issues will be found as less often-used features or combinations of things are tried. Do not use this on any production system yet.

New features and changes listed here (work in progress).

      Full change list:

      • source and build tools
      • ports
      • FreeBSD source

      Outstanding bugs/features/todo items:

      • Bootstrap-specific things
      • Everything else

We encourage you to try things out on test systems, and report feedback here on the 2.3 board.

Upgrade process is not ready in GUI, use console menu option 13 to upgrade the system to newer snapshots

I guess the first upgrade from 2.2.* to 2.3-ALPHA is fine from the dashboard, because it uses the 2.2.* code. That worked for me. But after that will need to use the console menu to get from 2.3-ALPHA date A to 2.3-ALPHA date B.

No more red? I kinda liked the red color scheme. Any reason for the change other than it was time for something new?

ETA: Re reading my posts it kinda sounds like a complaint. It's not, I think the UI looks great and I was just curious about it.

the definitive color scheme has not been decided upon.

it may stay as it is, or it may change …. time will tell

Hello heper, Honestly I still like red more than black color. Red is a symbol of original pfSense and more cheerful and more powerfull. Black color look darkness.
pfSense web interface is very important for the people to use. The key point is look attractive, easy to use and robot.
when pfSense is changing to new version, pfsense should make more people surprise about web interface, this is the first thing very important. If pfSense can do this, then pfSense are going to win from the people (heart) around the world and be come more and more to use pfSense in the future and more support the project, I am sure. I know it is very difficult to make firewall more beautiful.

                      Donny

I personally love the new "pfsense-dark" theme.  It's much easier on the eyes.

That seems to vary from person to person. Outside of terminals with fixed width fonts, my eyes have horrible trouble focusing and reading light text on a dark background. But now everyone has the choice to use what they prefer :-)

Yea I am still working on a lot of things and I usually save colors for last (I try to get close as I go along though). Dark theme is sort of a playground before applying the concepts to the main theme.

The only thing I had trouble reading in the dark theme was the name of an installed package (black on Grey) and the "Blue package name"

Much easier to read.  Thank you.

Would you consider white text on Save buttons (consistent with others) or a slightly bluer blue or maybe both - just to get a little bit more contrast.

The current blue looks a bit pastel (for want of a better word) compared to the greens and reds.

I've slowly been working on buttons slash waiting for inspiration to hit me. I should make some headway on them today in both themes.

                                      Just some input.

I do miss the ability to click several "delete" buttons before the GUI responds.  Such as the DHCP page or the autoupdates stored configurations page.

The new GUI responds so fast there is no way to avoid the multi step process.

Those places would benefit from the "checkbox on each row" and "delete selected rows checkbox" approach that is already available for firewall rules and similar. Basically anywhere that has multiple rows of items where you can already add/edit/delete could also have the "select multiply rows" functionality with a "delete selected rows" button.

Sounds like something worth of a redmine ticket. If you have a list of specific pages (like firewall_rules.php) I can create it.

                                            My two requests would be

                                            1. Autoconfig Backup    (Im clearing out about 6 mos worth right now I never want anyone to try and go back to and each time page has to reload.)
                                            2. DHCP client list      (not big deal here but I do clear out customers list once and a while)
