Unifi AP Pro

Hello PFsense users,
Just built (or rebuilt) an old pc to use PFsense for the first time. I must say i'm quite out of my skill sets with PFsense. I've tried to connect my ubiquity Unifi AP pro but It keeps saying "timedout". Is the AP plug and play? or do I need to reconfigure something to get it connected to the pfsense box. Thanks for your help can't wait to get it up and running.

I think there is some wireless controller software you must run on first setup. There is a hack to get it working on pfSense but after AP initial setup the software wireless controller is only needed for status. I think there is a software license/registration involved too.
Not sure as I don't own one.
So no it is not plug and play.. -

I had the AP running on my old asus router. So theres something i need to install on PFsense?

Not sure about that. Depends on Static IP and DHCP settings.
You had to use UniFi to setup at some point I believe. Maybe it had a first run-wizzard. I dunno.From the cloud.

I thought I read about a restrictive license for the software, tied to hardware, not-transferable. I will stop talking now as I am not an owner of the gear. Maybe Pro model is different.
But assuming you lost software and its working now, then figure out the IP range it is dishing out and make your pfSense OPT port accommodating.

In other words take your Asus router and figure out what IP situation is and DHCP too and duplicate it with pfSense.
Ie.. Static IP on the Interface OPTx and DHCP Server on for OPTx with the same address range as your Asus doles out(It can be different than pfSense LAN without bridging).. Make a rule for your OPTx interface to allow any. You need to open up the port. See firewall rules for details.. -
Here is a good reason for using the controller software. Change that password…Upgrade the firmware while your there...

What?? That sure an that hell has nothing to do with unfi..
The AP could care less what you use for your router, or even if there is a router.. It bridges wifi to the wired network its connected too. I would suggest you fire up the controller software and setup your AP for your network and ssid you want to broadcast, any sort of vlans on specific ssids, etc.
So do you have the controller software running? Can you see your AP?
