It should work fine. Are you running 2.2.4 x64? Install fresh and get squid working first, then add squidguard. Squidguard is a helper app that gets called by squid for every URL being processed, so it's not really a service that starts and stays running. Were there any relevant error messages in the System log?

I'm glad you said this 'cus this was my next step. I had installed 32bit and I'm working on using 64 now. Will report on the results.

Squid used to be broken under i386 a few months ago, IIRC. Don't know if it got fixed since i386 is being deprecated.

ok guys so I installed 64 bit and the issue keeps happening. SquidGuard kills squid and nothing gets filtered plus I can't get online. Any ideas? I'm stuck…

so I googled this myself "The redirector helpers are crashing too rapidly, need help!" and someone said that creating a custom category fixes this… so far that works. WTF!?

Well known fact related to the PBI packaging supercrap, if you search this forum. You need at least one entry there (may be completey no-op/fake one) – otherwise the crap-o-matic won't find libs or what.

yeah looks like that fixed it… will make sure to add to my box of tricks. I have 4 of these machines running and they always worked out of the box. but i do have custom whitelists on all of them.
