      When is this getting fixed, or should we assume never? It seems suboptimal to disallow a WAP to choose the best channel…

        Well of all the complaints this one seems very minor. If you can't take five minutes and do a wireless survey then just GUESS.

          Not trying to degrade you about this just seems you could even do a Access Point survey from pfSense wireless status page as well. To automate that would seem possible -but is that something that is really needed…Ruckus makes nice gear that dynamically switches channels to avoid interference. You get something for the all the money of a professional AP. There are not cheap new though.

          I would rather see increased device compatibility instead of creature comforts.

            Even base FreeBSD simply defaults to Channel 1 for wifi. I don't think much of that but it is command line.

              Ask the FreeBSD guys, perhaps. Or just get a proper access point and stop wasting time.
