      Hi!

One thing that bothers me is the incomplete translation pfSense have on PT-BR. Most parts of the UI, like drop-down menus and labels are correct, but tips and descriptions are still in English. Well, since 2.3 still is in the Alpha phase, it's the best time to work on it.

Can someone help me find the files that contain the texts? How to submit them to Git/Redmine?

Maybe, if we make the translation easy enough, we can motivate other translations.

          Thanks.

Time to download the repo and start bashing my head to understand how the file works.

Well, it's pretty simple. The 'msgid' is the original English string, the translation goes to 'msgstr'. The comments above each show where the string is used, so if you need context, you can look at the proper GUI page, or look at the code. (Note: the line numbers are very likely wrong in most cases.)

              I see…

Still, are all UI text on that single PO? I saw some references for external files/functions.

Now... the main UI I think I can do a pass on it in a week. But something I didn't see yet is localization for packages. Is there any function related to that? I would at least translate the "basic/everyone use" packages, like OpenVPN Export Utility, Squid, SquidGuard, Sarg, Lightsquid.

What's not in the PO cannot be localized. As for packages, no… most of them are not even using gettext() for strings. Could be done but definitely not something that's being done at the moment.

I'll get my head around the main UI first, then maybe I engage in the Bootstrap "conversion" and try to improve the package's UI. I saw that both Squid 2.7 and the other branch of SquidGuard was cut out from the 2.3, this narrows down the list of "things".

please work with Luiz and (especially) Renato (garga) to make this happen.

Hey there, with help from Roberto Botelho(rbgarga) I've setup Git and I'm working with the PO file. But, I found out there is a big difference between the "main file" and the localized.

Please, correct me if wrong, the main file up to date is:

                      \src\usr\local\share\locale\en\LC_MESSAGES\pfSense.pot

It would be better if I could merge the two files to start working using the current translation and adding the new text's translation.

Just to give  a quick update… the translation is around 85% complete.

cool.  I was talking to garaga earlier, and I think we have a rough plan.  stay tuned, we'll probably implement this soon.
