Hi forums, I got my USB NIC in the mail today and was excited to plug it into my pfSense box and try it out. Turns out this one didn't work as an access point so I wanted to share the info with the forums. This particular NIC has 2 distinct hardware versions, and only one works as an access point.

IS Access Point compatible:    ASUS USB-N13 rev A1 (Ralink chipset - run driver)    https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_USB-N13_rev_A1
NOT Access Point compatible:  ASUS USB-N13 rev B1 (Realtek chipset - urtw driver)  https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_USB-N13_rev_B1

Read the fine print before you buy!

Hope you read the manual for the run driver. It only offers 802.11G

Look at the very bottom of the page

Thanks, good to know on the 802.11G. And I am bookmarking that link you provided. Who manages this wireless compatibility google spreadsheet? https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AojFUXcbH0ROdHgwYkFHbkRUdV9hVWljVWl5SXkxbFE&hl=en
Might be good to have links on that spreadsheet to the FreeBSD page you referenced so people can quickly check the full driver details.

It is possible the manual is out of date, but I did test out a lot of 3 different run wifi adapters while messing with ARM boards and I think it is still correct.
