Package Conversion for Pfsenes 2.3
-
I would like to use the Beta Pfsense 2.3 but am waiting for the Suricata conversion. Any time frame for this package to made availbale for Pfsense2.3?

Most packages, including Snort and Suricata, have been written and are maintained by third parties. As such, development is dependent on the time and interest of the third party developers.
I believe - but could be mistaken - that bmeeks is working on Snort first, then will work on Suricata once Snort is done. There is a great deal of commonality between the Snort and Suricata packages, so it makes sense to target one and put the other to one side.
It might be that some of the package developers are in a position to take financial contributions (probably in the form of a bounty) to work on 2.3 conversion work, though I have no idea whether this applies to Snort and Suricata.

the core devs will help (as time permits) for the most popular packages together with the maintainers.
but some community packages will have to be converted by the volunteers …
it doesn't make sense to spend money on a package that has only a few users, while there is a ton of work that is needed for thousands of users. -
bmeeks is working on snort, and one of our internal devs (jdillard) is working on Suricata.

That's good news - and thanks to all concerned for their efforts.

I am making slow progress on the Snort package conversion. Been very busy with another commitment of late and have had limited free time to devote to learning Bootstrap and converting the package code. I had originally hoped to be finished by now, but I missed my goal… :(.

Nice Bill. ;D
I plan to add a way to use the "i" infoblock show/hide from XML shortly. That would be good for the blue information block in your screenshot perhaps.

whoo hoo, looking forward to that feature …
and hopefully Jared can cleanup the CSS spacing issue between the FA icons :)
