Nintendo Wii

I am curious what I need to do to make sure I can connect my Wii to the internet to play games online. I have the internet working on it, I've been able to do thing ssuch as download updates, download purchased games etc. However two games, Mario Kart, and Brawl are giving me problems.
If I try to connect with a friend in Mario Kart I get a connection error.
Any ideas?

Since I haven't tried any friend codes, I can't comment on that (perhaps it is their end?). But I've had no problems playing Brawl or Mario Kart online (both when they first came out) without any special rules to pfSense. For all I know, maybe something has changed with the new 3.3 firmware update (I'm still on 3.2).

Hi,
I got the same problem with the error 86420. I can play to Mario Kart one race in the better case, but after I got this error.
If anyone got an idea, share it please ;)I will do some tests because I think the problem is located on the firewall and/or NAT

I don't read much on people hacking into 360's or Wii's so you can do this at your own risk. I have pfSense reserving IP's for my 360 and Wii….then I have rules allowing all traffic to and from. Only reason I did it was because like you said, some things worked. I haven't had problems with my gaming consoles since I did it. It's not like ...MS OS's where you have to worry about hackers and stuff. I don't think it would hurt to open it all for consoles. If it does, I am not to be held reliable. :)

After all the tests I have done, the solution is to follow this documentation http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Static_Port
In my case I have got 3 network cards : WAN, LAN, Wireless (the WII is connected on the Net via Wireless).
Subnets for LAN and Wireless are diferents and can't communicate together.
I haven't enabled UPnP.Click Firewall -> NAT, and the Outbound tab. Click "Manual Outbound NAT rule generation (Advanced Outbound NAT (AON))" and click Save. You will then see a rule at the bottom of the page labeled "Auto created rule for LAN". Click the "e" button to the right of that rule to edit it. Check the "static port" box on that page, and click Save
I have created 2 automatic rules, one for LAN without "Static port" and one for Wireless with "Static port". I haven't got problem anymore. I hope this can help people. -

Could you tell me how to open all the traffic to my Nintendo Wii? Also will I need to set a static IP for everything on my Network or can I just set it for the one item and leave the rest DHCP?

I have nintendo wii and mario kart and it worked out-of-the-box. No firewall rules has been made and everything works. Updates, virtual console, mario kart channel etc etc.
