Stop / restart networking on VM suspend / resume

According to VMware, FreeBSD guests have networking restarted after the guest is suspended and resumed.

Is there any way to do this for Hyper-V? My PPPoE connections hang for 15 seconds when the VM is resumed, until they timeout and reconnect. I want them to instantly reconnect when the VM resumes. Right now it's faster to just reboot the VM than resume it and wait for PPPoE to timeout. Does Hyper-V even support running scripts on power state change on FreeBSD?

Can you reduce the PPPoE timeout? Might not be optimal, but it could help quite a bit. Just don't reduce it so low that it times out during normal operation.

Curious how about not just pausing the VM ;)  Why exactly do you pause them?

pfSense takes too long to shutdown and reboot. Modern OSes like Windows Server boot in 5 seconds, and my 2500 MB/s SSD can pause and resume the VM in 1 second.

VMware Workstation 12.5.2, running on an Intel i7-2600, takes about 15 seconds to boot a fully-patched Windows Server 2012R2 VM stored on an SSD.
