      What happen to the layer 7 support? I have an open mesh unit that displays layer 7 traffic for wireless. It's pretty cool to see the graph and what's happening on the wifi network. I was searching pfSense and found references to layer 7 for traffic shaping. Not sure how they compare but I can't find it in 2.3

        I just came across this tweet: https://twitter.com/javcasta/status/710496408479076353

        • Layer 7 classification support has been removed from the traffic shaper.
                * It was rarely used, had been broken for all of 2.2.x, had absurdly high CPU usage, and snort filters better/faster

          OpenAppID in snort should be integrated with rules. Some Snort API to add to aliases or something like that.

          pfSense:
          ASRock -> Wolfdale1333-D667 (2GB TeamElite Ram)
          Marvell 88SA8040 Sata to CF(Sandisk 4GB) Controller
          NIC's: RTL8100E (Internal ) and Intel® PRO/1000 PT Dual (Intel 82571GB)
