SG-4860: How to update to V2.3 Beta?
-
Hello,
i would like to update my home network to V2.3 Beta. My hardware is a SG-4860 Box (8GB ram) with the actual 2.2.6 amd64 release installed on a internal ssd.
Unfortunately i'm missing an upgrade guide, how to install the beta firmware on my little box.
Which download do i need for a WebGUI Update:
https://snapshots.pfsense.org/amd64/pfSense_master/updates/pfSense-CE-Full-Update-2.3-BETA-amd64-latest.tgzor do i need
https://snapshots.pfsense.org/amd64/pfSense_master/updates/pfSense-CE-2.3-BETA-4g-amd64-nanobsd-upgrade-20160328-1625.img.gzor is it better to do a full installation without using the Webupdate?
I saw this post: https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=105435.0, but i am still unsure wheter i need pfSense-CE-Full-Update-2.3-BETA-amd64-latest.tgz or pfSense-CE-2.3-BETA-4g-amd64-nanobsd-upgrade-20160328-1625.img.gzThank you for your help and regards from Germany,

Personally I'd wait for the non CE version to be available. See this thread.

The 4860 will use an amd64 full update file, not NanoBSD. I'd hold off on updating until we have the factory version up for that hardware. You could upgrade to the CE 2.3 image but you'd lose the factory customizations, and we don't yet have a set process for moving from 2.3 CE to 2.3 Factory so it may cause you some issues switching back when the time comes.

Thank you for your feedback, i'll wait for the factory version.
Maybe there will also be a Factory-Edition-Beta in a short time…??? ;)Regards,

I'm in the same boat. I'll hold off installing the CE image and hope for a non-CE image once the RC is released.

Whoopsie… Wasn't aware of that. So what do you recommend to people who have a 4860 and have already upgraded to 2.3 beta amd64 full (and loving it, by the way!!!)?

I'm sure we'll have a procedure worked out in due time. For the moment just keep tracking 2.3 snapshots.
